The only accommodation was an old house which had been moved back from Oxford Rd to make way for the Post Office Shop. Access was a lane off Macquarie Rd between the shops and Collins Liquor store. Our shop was on then the corner of Oxford Rd and Nardoo St. We remained there for 2 or 3 years and when the Commonwealth Bank built their new premises (where they are now) we leased the old bank premises. We remained in the old house for some time and then leased a house on 5 acres in Kings Rd. When the "Bird" estate was being developed we purchased land in Lark Place and built a home there. We sold the house in 1999 and moved to a unit being constructed in Bondi Junction.
During our term in the newsagency, we serviced the army camp and our area extended along Denham Court road to the Water Race. I was towards the end of the Vietnam war and injured soldiers were brought to the 2Mil Hospital in Denham Court Road.
In those days, Ingleburn was an old established village and everyone knew everyone and quite a number of familes were related.
